Haverford, PA (9/3/05) – The Montclair State women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision with Lynchburg (VA) College today in the first round of the Haverford Kickoff Classic.
The loss drops MSU to 0-1 overall and into tomorrow's consolation game with Arcadia (PA), which bested the Red Hawks by a 1-0 score in the same contest last fall. Lynchburg is now 1-0 and advances to tomorrow's championship game against host school Haverford.

KRISTIN KUHMANN finished with seven saves for Montclair, which saw the end of its nine-game (6-0-3) unbeaten streak that dated back to Oct. 16, 2004. Melanie Chidester scored Lynchburg's first two goals, both in the first half, before Audrea Hamby closed out the scoring with 31 minutes remaining in regulation. Katie DeLorenzo made seven saves for the Hornets, who outshot the Red Hawks, 13-9, while being outcornered, 6-4. Lynchburg also topped MSU, 2-0, in last season's Haverford Kickoff Classic opener.
RUBY RUSSELL and Kaylan Van Brookhaven each had two shots on goal for the Red Hawks, who are off to the Wellesley (MA) Invitational next weekend.
