Montclair, NJ (09/04/05) - The Montclair State University men's soccer team won its fourth consecutive Wellesley Inn Cup today, shutting out King's (PA) College, 3-0, at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field, in the second round.
Montclair State , which has now won six Wellesley Inn Cups since the tournament debuted in 1998, improves to 2-0 this fall while King's falls to 1-2 on the year. MSU also claimed the Cup in 1998 and 2000 before beginning its current streak in 2002.

CHRIS OWEN finished with two saves in recording his 18 th career shutout for the Red Hawks, while senior netminder Dan Upton ( Bloomsburg , PA ) made five stops for the visiting Monarchs, who were outshot, 19-9, and took three of the game's eight corner kicks. Montclair State junior defender
BILL ANTHES was named the Most Valuable Player of this year's Cup for his stalwart defensive play, while also recording six shots over two games. He scored the Cup-winning goal back in 2003.
Montclair State defeated Medgar Evers College , 11-1, in the first round of the 2005 Wellesley Inn Cup yesterday, while King's edged host William Paterson University , 3-2, in overtime in Wayne , NJ where WPU hosted Medgar Evers today. MSU returns to regular-season action on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Centenary College in Hackettstown , NJ .
