Men's Soccer Cruises Past Centenary

Hackettstown, NJ (9/7/05) – Junior forward RYAN MORGAN scored a hat trick and added an assist to pace as Montclair State rolled to its third straight victory with 9-0 win at Centenary College on Wednesday afternoon. BILL ANTHES added a two goals for the Red Hawks, who are off to a 3-0 start for the third time in the last four seasons.

After a scoreless first 20 minutes, Montclair State broke through at the 23:05 mark as Anthes collected his second goal in as many games. Morgan followed with the first his three tallies just over five minutes later and Anthes collected his second as the Red Hawks took a 2-0 lead in to halftime.

In the second half, MSU exploded for seven goals. Anthes notched his second goal at 51:02 and Morgan followed with his second 1:45 later to make the score, 5-0. JEFF ROWE made it a six-goal cushion as he registered his first tally in a Red Hawk uniform 16 seconds later off an assist by Morgan, who then recorded his first career hat trick at 59:01 for a 7-0 MSU lead.

Freshman midfielder KAMIL KLUCZYNSKI notched his first collegiate goal with just 22:31 left. Klyczynski took a feed from JUAN PEREZ for the goal. Perez would round out the Red Hawk offensive outburst exactly two minutes later with his first goal in nearly two seasons. Perez missed all of last season with an injury. KYLE BOWE got the assist, his first collegiate point.

Three goalkeepers combined on the shutout as CHRIS OWEN made two stops before exiting early in the second half. EDGARD DINTEN had a save in just over 21 minutes of work before GABE MERLA went the final 22:42.

Montclair State outshot Centenary, 31-3 in the game. John Osorio had nine saves for the Cyclones (0-3).

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 10 as they head to Elizabethtown, PA for the Blue Jay Classic, which will be held at Elizabethtown College. MSU will face Mary Washington in the first round at 5:00 pm. Elizabethtown will meet Wesley in the second game. The tournament concludes with the championship and consolation games on Sunday, September 11.
