Montclair, NJ (10/15/06) – Freshman forward
NATALIA SISTI (Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic) scored all three goals and notched her second consecutive hat trick in as many days as Montclair State won its second straight game with a 3-0 victory over Catholic University in NCAA Division III Women's Soccer action at Sprague Field on Sunday afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper
KRISTIN KUHMANN ( Beachwood , NJ / Toms River South) had 11 saves for the Red Hawks, who improved to 10-4-2 on the season. The victory also gave MSU a 2-1-2 advantage in the five meeting between the teams who met for the first time since 1996.
Senior goalkeeper Kimberly Stengle ( Old Bridge , NJ / Old Bridge ) made three saves for the Cardinals, who fell to 9-6 on the season with their second straight loss.
Sisti, who had three goals in Montclair 's 10-1 win at New Jersey City on Saturday, upped her season total to 14 as she became the first Red Hawk to post back-to-back hat tricks since Stephanie Sabaliauskas did it against Rutgers-Camden and Green Mountain College on October 23-24, 2004 . Sisti's 14 goals are also the most by an MSU player since Marie Plaskett in 2000.
Sisti gave MSU the only goal it would eventually need at the 23:54 mark as
LARA KAMINSKI (Rahway, NJ/Union Catholic) put through a ball to the top of the box where Sisti took control before chipping a shot inside the right post past Stengle. Montclair would then increase the lead to 2-0 1:11 before halftime as this time
KELLY DUTKO (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) put a ball forward to within 15 yards. Sisti fought off a defender, took control of the loose ball, and fired a shot from the right side that found the back of the net as Montclair State led by two goals at halftime.
In the second half, the Cardinals threatened several times, however Kuhmann came up with seven saves in the period to keep Catholic off the board. Kuhmann made three saves in a five-minute span early in the period and then came up with her biggest stop at the 62:48 mark. Diana Napolitano ( Hasbrouck Heights , NJ /Immaculate Heart) fired a shot from 15-yards out toward the right post that Kuhmann snared with a diving stop. The Cardinals got one more opportunity in the 80 th minute as off a corner kick Suzie Peters ( Nanuet , NY /Albertus Magnus) had a shot that was knocked away near the goal line by a defender.
Sisti then capped her hat trick with 8:47 to play. With a loose ball rolling in the middle of the field Sisti and Stengle each raced toward the ball with Sisti getting a foot in just ahead of the sliding Stengle. The ball then rolled the final 25 yards into the net.
Catholic held an 18-8 advantage in shots and had three corner kicks to Montclair State 's one.
Montclair State is now off until Saturday, October 21 when it hosts Richard Stockton at MSU Soccer Park . Game time of the NJAC matchup is set for 1:30 pm. Catholic is back in action on Wednesday, October 18 as it will face Villa Julie College at 4:00 pm .
