Red Hawks Down Drew in Completion of Suspended Game

Madison, NJ (10/30/06)  – Senior forward KRISTEN SWARTZ (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored twice while JENNIFER TANIS (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) set a new single-season record with her 20th goal as Montclair State downed Drew University, 5-0 at Rangers Stadium on Monday evening.

The game was the completion of a suspended contest on October 11. MSU led 1-0 in that game with 26:48 remaining before heavy rains and lightning forced the suspension of the contest. The game resumed on Monday from the point of the stoppage.

Swartz scored 5:05 into the contest when it originally began on October 11 as she took a fee from LAUREN ZEHNDER (Emmaus, PA/SOuthern Lehigh). When play resumed this afternoon its was Zehnder extending the lead to 2-0 at 20:49 off an assist from JUSTINE DIPAOLO (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township).

Swartz would get her second of the game with 3:09 remaining in the first half as MSU too the three-goal cushion into halftime.

In the second half, freshman MEGAN WALSH (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) got the assist on Tanis' 20th goal of the season, one better than the previous mark of 19 set by Laura Popes in 2001. Tanis also topped the 100-point mark in her career (101) and moved within a point of Megan Ulicny's 2003 record for points in a season (55) and a goal of Anna Wimberg's career mark of 40 goals.

DiPaolo capped off MSU's scored with 16:36 to play as she collected her second goal of the season off an assist from JEN SOSS (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert).

JACQUIE SUPKO (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) made three saves in the first 55 minutes before giving way to JACKIE DERICCO (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose), who closed out the game with a scoreless 15 minutes.

MSU outshot Drew, 19-8and held a 14-5 advantge in penalty corners.

The Red Hawks close out their season on Wednesday, November 1 as they travel to Hartford, CT and Trinity College to take on Mount Holyoke College at 7:30 pm.
