STEPHANIE MACHIN (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) added 15 and 11 rebounds, however King's College was able to erase a two-point halftime deficit and turn it into a 71-60 victory over Montclair State on Tuesday evening.
With the win, King's improved to 4-0 while Montclair slipped to 1-2. In the process, the Lady Monarchs avenged a 69-55 loss at Montclair last season. King's has won two of the three meetings between the teams.
The Red Hawks took a 36-34 lead into the halftime break but the Lady Monarchs came out of the locker room and put together a 16-3 run to take a 50-39 lead with 12:46 left in the contest. King's took its biggest lead of the game at 62-48 on a Jenna Palumbo bucket with 5:17 left in the contest.
Andrea Hochstuhl tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds while Palumbo netted 15 points with 10 coming in the second half. Lauren Kendra contributed with seven points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists while Case Heitman chipped in with five point and four rebounds.
JESSICA HORAN (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland) added nine points while junior
JESSICA GARRABRANT (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Junior
CYNTHIA WARRINGTON (Villas, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) added seven points.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, November 25 as they take part in the Red Hawk-Pioneer Classic over the weekend. MSU will face Colby (ME) at William Paterson on Saturday at 1:00 pm. William Paterson will meet second-ranked Bowdoin at 3:00 pm. The venue then shifts to Panzer Gymnasium on Sunday, November 26 with the Lady Pioneers taking on Colby at 12:00 pm followed by the Bowdoin-MSU contest at 2:00 pm.
