Montclair, NJ ( 3/20/06) –Richard Stockton (3-3, 1-0 KC) broke open a 4-4 tie with six third-period goals and went on to a 14-5 victory over Montclair State (3-3, 3-3 KC) in a Knickerbocker Conference men's lacrosse game today.
Kevin Zulauf led the Ospreys with six goals and four assists. Josh Enyeart netted three goals and Keith Bologno scored twice. Stockton goalkeeper Ryota Ishikawa registered eight saves in the winning effort.
EDWARD CARSWELL and
BRYAN KLIMCHAK paced Montclair State with two goals apiece. Starting goalie
DAN CUFF posted 12 saves in 54:50 of game action for the Red Hawks.
The game was tied 2-2 after one quarter and 4-4 at the half. Enyeart gave Stockton a 5-4 lead six seconds into the third period and sparked an outburst of nine consecutive goals by the Ospreys. Zulauf netted the next three tallies to put Stockton in front 8-4, and the Ospreys increased their cushion to 10-4 after three quarters.
Jeff Martin capped Stockton's nine-goal spree with his first marker of the game to give the Ospreys a 13-4 lead with 2:51 to play in the game. Klimchak finally ended a 30:15 scoring drought for Montclair with an unassisted goal at the 2:20 mark, but Stockton was firmly in control and the Ospreys went on to the 14-5 victory.
Stockton 's next game will be a Knickerbocker Conference match at USMMA-Kings Point on Saturday, March 25 at 4 pm. Montclair State will host Kean in a Knickerbocker Conference game on Thursday, March 23 at 7 pm.
