ATHANASIA TOTARO tossed perfect game in the opener and freshman shortstop
JENNIFER JIMENEZ set a new single-season mark for home runs as Montclair State tossed a pair of shutouts in a doubleheader sweep of Baruch College at the MSU Softball Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

MEGAN TANTUM drove in four runs in the twinbill as the Red Hawks improved to 26-6 on the season with a 12-0 win in Game 1 and a 13-0 triumph in Game 2. The wins also gave MSU head coach Anita Kubicka her 498 th and 499 th career wins.
Baruch fell to 11-17 on the season.
Totaro struck out eight batters as she threw the fifth perfect game in Montclair State history. Totaro retired all 15 hitters she faced as she improved to 12-2 on the season with her sixth shutout of the year.
Totaro would get all of the support she would need in the first as MSU struck for two runs.
MAUREEN SHOCKLEY and Jimenez each came around to score as
CHERYL BODAK lined a two-run single through the right side. MSU would extend the lead in the second with two more runs.
JENNA WEISS led off with a single and scored as Totaro drove a base hit through the left side for a single. Totaro would later score on a wild pitch as Montclair led 4-0.
The Red Hawks would break the game open in the third with six runs. Jimenez opened the inning with a solo homer, her 13 th, breaking the MSU single-season mark of 12 set by Wendy Saladino in 1998. Tantum would add a two-run single and
KELLY KARP doubled home two runs. Shockley capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly as MSU led 10-0. Tantum and
LEIGH ANN MURDUCA accounted for the final two runs in the fourth.
Haydee Rivas took the loss for the Bearcats.
In the second game, the Montclair offense stayed hot as the Red Hawks scored seven times in the bottom of the first. Jimenez collected an RBI triple for the first run and
JACKIE FERRANTI collected an RBI single before Bodak triple home the third run. Tantum brought home a run with sacrifice fly and
DANA WARNOCK doubled to make the score 6-0. Totaro capped off the inning with an RBI single.
CAROLYN MCCREA picked up the victory. McCrea (12-4) struck out seven and gave up two hits before Warnock came on and got the final six outs, three via the strikeout.
Totaro, Ferranti and Warnock each had two hits for the Red Hawks, who had 12 in the game.
Montclair State , which has outscored its opponents 77-12, in its last nine games, returns to action on Saturday, April 22 as they host Richard Stockton at the MSU Softball Stadium. First pitch of the NJAC doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 pm .
