Dominican Gets Past Men's Lacrosse

Blauvelt, NY (4/5/06) – Sophomore attack BRYAN KLIMCHAK and Ed Carswell each scored a pair of goals, however, Montclair State dropped its second straight, falling to Dominican College, 8-7 on Wednesday afternoon. MSU fall to 5-6 on the season.

Montclair took an early 1-0 lead as A.J. Bachman put it past the Charger goalie just 36 seconds into the game. The Chargers tied the game at 1-1 as freshman Jeremy Arcaro scored off the dish by Joe Cobiswith 10:25 remaining in the first quarter. Arcaro returned the favor to Cobis at the 7:19 mark as Cobis scored to give the Chargers a 2-1 lead.

Four minutes later Kyle Miller netted a goal off the assist by Owen Smith III to give Dominican a two goal advantage. MSU answered back with 0:53 seconds left in the quarter as DAVE ARMSTRONG connected on a pass by Klimchak to pull the Red Hawks within one, 3-2.

Early in the second quarter Montclair tied the game at 3-3 as Carswell put it in the net off the assist by Armstrong. MSU took their second lead of the game as Klimchak scored to put the Red Hawks ahead, 4-3.

Dominican answered with a game tying goal by Remo Montalbano off another assist by Cobis to one again knot the game at 4-4. With 0:56 seconds left in the half, Dominican took advantage of a man up situation as Miller scored his second goal of the game off the assist by Montalbano to give Dominican a 5-4 lead as the first half ended.

The Chargers extended their lead to 6-4 when Smith netted an unassisted goal with 9:44 left in the third quarter. Montclair answered back as TYLER MEIXNER scored a man up goal off the pass by Armstrong, cutting the Charger lead to 6-5.

In the fourth quarter, Montclair tied the game at 6-6 when Carswell got a pass from Armstrong and put it in the net with 11:37 remaining in the game. Arcaro answered back with two consecutive goals, one from Montalbano and one from Smith, to once again give the Chargers a two goal lead, 8-6. Montclair rallied to score a goal with 3:20 left in the game as Klimchak connected on Armstrong's fourth assist of the day for the final 8-7 score.

Charger goalie, Joe Assante, had 12 saves in the win, while Red Hawk goalies DAN CUFF and TIM CONDRON combined for eight saves.
