Klimchak, Armstrong Key Men's Lacrosse Win Over Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, PA (4/8/06) BRYAN KLIMCHAK scored four goals while DAVE ARMSTRONG had a goal and five assists as Montclair State held on for an 11-10 victory over Susquehanna in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at a blustery Sassafras Field.

The Red Hawks (6-6) led 7-1 after one quarter and withstood a run by the Crusaders (6-4) that brought Susquehanna to within one goal on two occasions, the latter with 7:27 left following the second goal of the game by senior Mike Tozzi.

ALFRED BACHMAN scored three goals in the opening quarter as Montclair State led 5-0 nearly 10 minutes into the quarter before sophomore Tim Storck scored the first of his two man-up goals with 4:02 left in the quarter to get the Crusaders on the scoreboard.

Tozzi and freshman Greg Norris scored early in the second quarter to bring Susquehanna within 7-3, and Klimchak and sophomore BJ Allen exchanged goals later in the quarter as the Red Hawks took an 8-4 lead to halftime.

In the third quarter, Klimchak scored his fourth of the game with 11:18 left to give Montclair State a 9-4 lead, but the Crusaders scored three straight goals as Allen, Norris and sophomore Ryan Walters connected in a span of 3 minutes, 40 seconds to cut the Red Hawk lead to 9-7.

A man-up goal by EDWARD CARSWELL extended the Montclair State lead to 10-7 with 5:27 left in the quarter before Storck and Walters tallied just 16 seconds apart late in the period to pull the Crusaders within 10-9 entering the final quarter.

TYLER MEIXNER scored the eventual game-winning goal with 12:15 left to give Montclair State an 11-9 lead before Tozzi closed out the scoring with 7:27 to play.

Montclair State finished with a 53-31 advantage in shots while sophomore Conor Buckley won 15-of-25 faceoffs for the Crusaders and finished with nine ground balls.

Sophomore Kirk Ryan made 14 saves for the Crusaders while TIM CONDRON made 12 stops for the Red Hawks.

Montclair State returns to action on Thursday, April 13 as they host the Bulldogs of DeSales Unviersity at 7:00 pm
