BRYAN KLIMCHAK's goal with 4:04 left in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as the Montclair State men's lacrosse team topped Stockton 12-11 in the ECAC Tournament.
The Red Hawks move to 9-8 as Stockton falls to 8-8.
The Ospreys grabbed a 4-3 lead on a man-down goal from Josh Enyeart, but the Red Hawks responded with the next four goals. Klimchak capped off the run with an unassisted tally with 54 seconds in the first half to give MSU a 7-4 advantage entering halftime.
EVAN WEHMEYER tallied a man-up goal midway through the third stanza, yet the Ospreys refused to go away. They reeled off the next three tallies, with Kevin Zulauf scoring with 13:27 left in the fourth to level the game at nine. Klimchak scored twice in a 1:25 span, but the Ospreys responded with the next two goals to even the game at 11. After Ian Muchanic was issued a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, Klimchak fired home the game-winner on the man-advantage to send MSU into the next round.
Klimchak tallied five goals and an assist, while Wehmeyer had three goals and was 10-of-18 on faceoffs.
KEVIN COSGROVE scooped up eight ground balls, as
TIM CONDRON made 11 saves. Stockton received four goals and an assist from Jeff Martin in addition to a goal and three helpers from Zulauf.
