Cortland , NY (9/1/06) – The Montclair State volleyball team opened its 2006 season with a pair of losses at the Red Dragon Classic held at SUNY Cortland on Friday. The Red Hawks (0-2) fell to the host Red Dragons in three sets before dropping a three-set decision to SUNY Fredonia.

HEATHER ACIZ ( Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) had five kills and five digs for MSU, which fell to Cortland 30-13, 30-19 and 30-12. Freshman middle blocker
ANNA CHESNAKOVA ( East Brunswick, NJ/ East Brunswick) had four kills while freshmen setter
RAISA SILVA ( Newark, NJ/Newark East Side) registered 11 assists.
Later in the evening, Aciz had six kills and six digs as the Red Hawks fell to Fredonia, 30-15, 30-17 and 30-14.
CHRISTINE TOSKOVICH (Garfield, NJ / Garfield) had four kills and seven digs with Chesnakova and
KARA BURNHAM ( Moorestown, NJ/ Moorestown) each getting three kills.
Montclair State wraps up pool play on Saturday, September 2 when they face Skidmore at 10:00 am. The Red Hawks will then play once more in a consolation bracket against a team to be determined.
