Newark, NJ (9/27/06) – Senior forward ILYAS TASCI (Paramus, NJ/Paramus HS) scored the match's first two goals 41 seconds apart and freshman forward RUDSON CRISOSTOMO (Newark, NJ/Newark Eastside) tallied two goals and an assist as unbeaten Montclair State rolled past Rutgers-Newark, 6-1, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer match on Alumni Field.

The Red Hawks (10-0-0, NJAC 4-0-0), off to their best start since 1969, out shot the Scarlet Raiders (2-6-1, NJAC 0-4-0), 34-4.

Sophomore forward Daniel Mezzina (Union City, NJ/Emerson) scored on a looping shot over Montclair State junior goalkeeper NICK MELE (Delran, NJ/Delran) in the 67th minute to give Rutgers-Newark its only goal in the first four NJAC matches of the season.

Tasci registered the first goal on a crossing pass from the left side from senior midfielder BILL ANTHES (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) in the 22nd minute before collecting a cleared ball off of a corner kick and sending it into the left side of the net from 25 yards out to tally the game winner.  Anthes put the Red Hawks up 5-0 with a second-half goal.

Mele needed just one save to post the win in goal while sophomore keeper Matthew Johnson (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) made 11 stops.
