Red Hawks Suffer Third Straight Loss, 4-1

Glassboro, NJ (10/13/07) – Forward Danielle Miranda scored two goals to lead Rowan University over conference opponent Montclair State University, 4-1 on Saturday evening. The Profs also had one goal from forward Rachel Cheafsky (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and back Erin Tideman (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.).  Cheafsky also added one assist along with one each from back Jennifer Lipnickey (Chester, NJ/West Morris-Mendham) and midfielder Susan Massara (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton).  

For MSU, midfielder JUSTINE DIPAOLO (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Twp.) had the lone goal.  Rowan out shot Montclair State, 22-8.  In the Red Hawks' net, goalie JACQUIE SUPKO (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) made 11 saves.  The Profs' goalie Amanda Cucinotti (Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had three saves. Rowan is 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  Montclair State has a 9-4 record with a 1-3 conference mark.  In this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, Rowan is ranked 13th followed by Montclair State 14th.

The Red Hawks had a 1-0 lead after the first half.  DiPaolo scored on a penalty corner (29:53) that was taken by midfielder MEGAN WALSH (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.).  Cheafsky started the Profs' rally when she knocked in a loose ball at 39:52.  Miranda tipped in Massara's shot for her first score at 40:51.  Tideman made it 3-1 on a penalty corner (54:30) on a pass from Lipnickey.  Miranda hit the left side of net on a feed from Cheafsky for the final goal (55:25) of the game.
