MEGAN PIETRUNTI (Middletown, NJ / Red Bank Catholic) scored twice and assisted on a third goal as Montclair State snapped its three-game losing streak with a 4-2 triumph over Drew University in NCAA Division III field hokey action at Sprague Field on Tuesday evening.

JENNIFER TANIS ( Oak Ridge, NJ / Jefferson Township) and freshman
JESSICA MURPHY ( West Long Branch, NJ / Shore Regional) each had a goal as the Red Hawks improved to 10-4 in winning for the first time since September 29. MSU is now 11-12 all-time against the Rangers, winning each of the last seven meetings.
Senior Ryan Hoover (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman) and sophomore Nicole DiBattista ( Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) each had goals for the Rangers, who fell to 9-5.
Drew took a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the contest as the Rangers were awarded a penalty stroke. DiBattista stepped up and fired a shot inside the right post for her second goal of the season. Montclair State would get the goal back at 16:59 of the period. Off a penalty corner,
JUSTINE DIPAOLO ( Lanoka Harbor, NJ / Lacey Township) slid a pass in front to Pietrunti, who banged home the shot from seven yards out for her eighth tally of the year as the teams headed to halftime deadlocked at 1-1.
In the second half, the Red Hawks would take the lead on Murphy's first career goal.
MEGAN WALSH ( Lumberton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) fed a pass on the left side to Mruphy, who flipped in the tough-angle shot for the goal and a 2-1 MSU advantage at the 39:17 mark. The lead would be extended just over five minutes later as Pietrunti converted a penalty stroke. Tanis then capped off Montclair State's scoring with 4:25 to play as she scored her ninth goal of the year and 50 th of her career. Pietrunti had the assist to finish off her five-point contest.
Drew would get the final goal of the game as the Rangers scored on a penalty corner with no time left on the clock for the final margin. Hoover picked up the goal off an assist from Hillary DiContaldo ( Guilford, CT/ Guilford).
Rangers goalkeeper Stef Rutowski (Wilmington, DE/Tower Hill) made 14 saves in the game while Montclair's
JACQUIE SUPKO (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) made just one as Montclair outshot Drew, 22-5 in the game while also holding an 11-9 edge in penalty corners.
Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, October 17 as the Red Hawks host Ramapo College at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm.
