Willimantic, CT (10/19/07) – Sophomore ANNA CHESNAKOVA had 16 kills and five blocks; however, the Montclair State volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Eastern Connecticut.

Classmate KARA BURNHAM also had 14 kills while NJAC Rookie of the Week DEVON JOHNSTON added 13 kills and nine digs. The loss dropped MSU's record to 18-14.

Sophomore CHRISTINE TOSKOVICH served five aces to bring her season total to 93 breaking the school record of 90 set by Carmen Alvarado in 2003.

The Red Hawks had forced a decisive fifth game by leading Game 4 from start to end. Game 5 was tied five times, the final time at 12-12. Montclair scored three in a row to break from a 9-9 deadlock before the Warriors scored four in a row to take the lead for good, 13-12, on a Red Hawk attack error.

Sophomore middle blocker Alexandra Silvestros' (North Branford) match-ending kill sealed the victory.

Setter RAISA SILVA had 47 assists and six digs for MSU, which got 19 digs from libero SARA SIRAG. KAREN MARTIN added eight kills, nine digs, and four block assists for MSU.

Montclair closes out its regular season on Saturday, October 27, as the Red Hawks travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to face Vassar College. MSU will then head into the 2007 NJAC Volleyball Championship on Tuesday, October 30, as the No. 3 seed and will host a yet to be determined opponent.
