Byrne, Hern Pace Montclair State by Philadelphia Bible, 108-64

Montclair, NJ – Sophomore guard JOHN BYRNE (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunwsick) came off to the bench to score 19 points pacing four players in double figures as Montclair State put together its largest offensive output in 12 years as the Red Hawks connected on a school-record 17 three-pointers in a 108-64 win over Philadelphia Biblical University at Panzer Gymnasium on Thursday evening.

Sophomore guard Michael Hern (Hamburg, NJ / Walkill Valley) added 17 points while sophomore guard DONALD REID (Pert Amboy, NJ / Cardinal McCarrick) pumped in 14 as the Red Hawks evened their record at 2-2. The 108 points by Montclair were the most by MSU since it put up 110 in a 110-63 win over Rutgers-Newark on January 11, 1995. It was also MSU's first 100-point game since a 103-82 win versus Westminster in December 2004.

MSU hit on 17-of-37 (46 percent) attempts from behind the arc as its broke the single-game mark set in the win over Rutgers-Newark in 1995. Byrne and Reid each went 4-of-6 as the Red Hawks were 10-of-17 in the second half.

Junior guard Jeremy Dunham (Franklin, NJ / Timothy Christian) had a game-high 20 points for Philadelphia Biblical, which had its own three-point stroke working as the Crimson Eagles (0-4) were 11-of-19 from long range, including 6-of-10 by Dunham.

A close game through the first 10 minutes, Montclair led 29-37 as PBU's Malik Charles (Edgewater Park, NJ / Burlington City) scored on a layup with 7:01 to play. But Montclair closed out the half with a 14-5 run led by Byrne, who had 14 of his points in the first 20 minutes of the contest as Montclair led 43-32 at intermission.

Sophomore guard KEN DUDLEY (Willingboro, NJ / Burlington Tech) had eight points and six assists for Montclair State, which had 14 different players crack the scoring column. SEAN YOUNG (Scotch Plains, NJ / SP-Fanwood) had seven points and seven rebounds while WILL BISHOP (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) added seven points off the bench. Montclair shot 46 percent for the game (40-of-87) and held a huge 51-30 advantage on the boards, including 29 offensive caroms.

Otis Caston (Dallas, TX / Duncanville) had eight points while Jon Delgado (Flemington, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional), Jared Wilcox (Falmouth, MA / Falmouth) and Michael Phillips (Gobles, MI/Otsego Baptist Academy) each had six points.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, December 1 as the Red Hawks host the Dolphins of College of Staten Island at 2:00 pm in Panzer Gymnasium. The Crimson Eagles are also home that day with a 4:00 pm matchup against Penn State-Berks.
