McDaniel Trips Up Women's Lacrosse in Overtime

Wellington, FL (3/13/07) – Chelsea Ferruzzi scored 34 seconds into first sudden-victory overtime period to break a 13-all deadlock and give McDaniel a 14-13 win over Montclair in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Ferruzzi was one of four players to record hat tricks for the Green Terror (4-0), who overcame a 6-3 halftime deficit to force overtime.

BETHANY BLAINE (Moorestown , NJ / Moorestown) had five goals while BRIANNA GILLIN (Cinnaminson , NJ / Cinnaminson) added three and two assists as the Red Hawks fell to 1-1 on the season.

After outscoring the Red Hawks (1-1) 9-6 in the second half, McDaniel struck first in the six-minute overtime session as Erinn Hopkins scored on a free position attempt. Montclair State would get the equalizer two minutes later as Blaine notched her fifth of the game off an assist from JENNIFER TANIS (Oak Ridge , NJ / Jefferson) with 2:06 to go in the period that forced the fourth period of the game.

In the second overtime, Ferruzzi took a pass from Connie Wuenschel 34 seconds in to get the Green Terror off to its best start to a season since 1994, when it started the campaign 8-0.

Michelle Mullen led all scorers with three goals and three assists while Connie Wuenschel and Kerrie Wuenschel each tallied three goals and an assist.

Senior goalkeeper Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood , NJ / Toms River East) made 11 saves for the Red Hawks, who were out shot in the contest, 40-32. Sarah White and Megan Millhausen split the game for the Green Terror with Millhausen making four saves in the second half and overtime periods. White had nine saves in the first half.

ANN DAILY (Moorestown , NJ / Moorestown) added two goals and three assists while Tanis registered a goal and three assists to go along with three draws and four caused turnovers. CRISTIN BENTZ (Marlton , NJ /Cherokee) had four draw controls while DINA MORRONE (Medford Lakes , NJ / Shawnee ) added three caused turnovers.

The Red Hawks close out their trip to Florida on Thursday morning as they face No. 14 Dickinson College at 9:00 am .
