SHAUNA BROCKLEBANK (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) scored five times and added two assists while sophomore
MARYKATE DIBENEDETTO (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) added three goals and five assists as 18th-ranked Montclair State posted a 22-3 victory over Centenary College in the Skyline Conference women's lacrosse opener for both teams at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.
Junior
JENNIFER TANIS (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) added three goals and three assists for Montclair State, which has won four straight in improving to 5-1 on the year.
Michelle Garone (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead) had a pair of goals for the Cyclones, who fell to 3-2 on the season with the loss.
Montclair State dominated the opening 15 minutes of the game, scoring the first nine goals. Tanis collected her first 1:24 into the game and Brocklebank followed with two straight to make the score, 3-0 with 25:29 to play.
ANN DAILY (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) scored the fourth Red Hawk goal and
KATY MAYER (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) and Brocklebank scored 10 seconds apart as MSU extended the lead to 6-0. DiBenedetto scored the first of her three first-half goals with 17:07 remaining for a 7-0 advantage. Mayer followed 11 seconds later before DiBenedetto capped off the run off a free-position attempt with 15:41 to go.
Garrone broke the MSU run with a goal with 3:34 to go before halftime, but DiBenedetto answered 22 seconds later and Montclair added three more as the Red Hawks led 14-1 at halftime.
The Red Hawks' Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) made just two saves for MSU while senior Laura Davis (Vernon, NJ/Oakridge) stopped 15 shots.
Mayer and Daily each finished with three goals for Montclair State, which outshot Centenary 51-7 in the game and won 23 of the 27 draws in the game. DiBenedetto and Briann Gillin (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), who finished with three assists, each had five while Tanis collected four. Defender

Montclair State is back in action on Sunday, April 1 as the Red Hawks conclude their weekend set of games with a matchup against 20th-ranked Lycoming College at 1:00 pm. Centenary will host Farmingdale State on Tuesday, April 3 at 4:00 pm in Hackettstown, NJ.
