No. 11 Montclair State Blanks Susquehanna, 3-0

Selinsgrove, PA (9/5/07)  – Senior forward Jen Tanis (Oak Ridge, NJ / Jefferson) scored once and added an assist as Montclair State, ranked 11th in Division III blanked Susquehanna University, 3-0.

Sophomores MEGAN WALSH (Lumberton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) and REBECCA DOBIESZ (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) each had a goal as the Red Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season.

Senior goalkeeper Lyndsay Meabon (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) made 18 saves for the Crusaders, who fell to 0-2 and lost to MSU for the second time in as many meetings.

The Red Hawks grabbed a 1-0 2:20 to go before halftime as Walsh collected her third goal of the year off an assist from Tanis. The assist was the 29th of her career, one shy of Janel Bertini's mark of 30 from 1998-2001.

In the second half, Tanis extended the lead to two goals at the 66:04 mark, finishing off a pass from MEGAN PIETRUNTI (Middletown, NJ / Red Bank Catholic). Dobiesz capped off the Montclair State scoring with 1:50 left as she collected her first of the year, an unassisted tally.

Sophomore goalkeeper JACQUIE SUPKO (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) made five saves as she notched her first shutout of the season and the fifth in her career.

Montclair State outshot Susquehanna, 25-7 in the game and had a 9-6 edge in penalty corners.

The Red Hawks return to action this weekend, Setpember 8-9 with a pair of home games. MSU will take on SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at Sprague Field beginning at 2:30 pm. Montclair will then face Rensselaer on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
