MELISSA FLAHERTY (Fishkill, NY / John Jay) each scored a goal in the second half as Montclair State picked up its first NJAC win of the year with a 2-0 victory at Ramapo on Monday afternoon.
Montclair outshot the Roadrunners 11-3 as the Red Hawks improved to 10-7 overall, 1-4 in the NJAC with their second win in the last three games.
Flaherty gave MSU a 1-0 edge at 47:52 when her team capitalized on a penalty corner.
JESSICA MURPHY (West Long Branch, NJ / Shore Regional) connected with Flaherty, who chipped the ball over the head of Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) for the one-goal advantage.
The Red Hawks took the 2-0 lead in the 59th minute when
JUSTINE DIPAOLO (Lanoka Harbor, NJ / Lacey) found Montgomery inside the circle for the latter's first career goal.
Emina Udrijia (West Paterson, NJ / Passaic Valley) blocked one shot in the game, earning the MSU shutout. Tierney stopped seven shots in the cage for Ramapo in the full 70 minutes of play.
Montclair State closes out the season on Wednesday, November 5, as the Red Hawks host Richard Stockton at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm.
