Wayne, N.J. (February 13, 2008) – The Montclair State women's basketball fell to William Paterson 68-56 in NJAC play.
The Red Hawks drop to 13-9, 6-5 in the NJAC while William Paterson moves to 17-5, 8-2 in the NJAC.
William Paterson jumped in front 20-9 on a layup by Elisa Brown, but the Red Hawks went on a 13-0 run late in the first half to take the lead entering halftime. During the spurt,
AMY BONK and
CYNTHIA WARRINGTON each tallied four points.
The Red Hawks clung to the lead early on in the second stanza, but a 10-2 Pioneer rally pushed them back in front.
JESSICA HORAN drained a three with exactly five minutes left to give MSU a 54-53 lead, but Michelle Pellichero hit one of her own on the next trip down the floor to give WPU the lead for good. William Paterson hit six free throws in the final minute to keep the Red Hawk comeback on hold.
JESSICA GARRABRANT led the Red Hawks with 15 points, while Kisandra Ayenbeku added seven and five rebounds. Asia Johnson posted a double-double of 15 rebounds and 14 blocks, while Pellichero had a game-high 21 points.
