Chandler, AZ – Nick Martinho and Mike Kenneally each homered as Suffolk University built an early lead and knocked off Montclair State, 9-4 in the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational on Sunday.
Greg DiMarco and Mark Aneese collected three hits apiece for the Rams (3-1).
Stephen Piscatello went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Red Hawks (1-4), who dropped their fourth straight and fell to 0-3 on their Arizona trip.
Suffolk scored four times in the second to grab the lead. Paul Vittozi and Rory Gentile each walked with the bases loaded to force home the first two runs and a wild pitch allowed Anthony Iacopucci to scamper home with the third run. Jose Alejandro lofted a sacrifice fly for a 4-0 Rams advantage.
Kenneally blasted a two-run home run in the third for 6-0 lead before Montclair State got on the board in the bottom of the inning.
VICENTE MEDINA walked with the bases loaded to bring home Piscatello, who's RBI ground out in the fourth, got MSU within 6-2.
But the Rams put the game away in latter innings scoring once in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Piscatello accounted for Montclair's final two runs in the eighth inning on a two-run single.

TIM STRINGER (0-1) took the loss for the Red Hawks.
JEFF MILLER had two hits.
Montclair will look to snap its losing streak on Monday, March 17 as it takes on UMass-Boston.
