Montclair, NJ (3/25/08) – Senior midfielder Lindsey Specht (Jackson, NJ / Jackson) scored five times while junior Amanda Wayne (Bellport, NY/Bellport) added four goals and four assists as FDU-Florham picked up its fourth straight victory with a 17-9 win over Montclair State in NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse action as Sprague Field.

Junior Laura Gambardello (Pennsauken, NJ / Pennsauken) and Kristen Schuster (Centereach, NY/Centereach) each added three goals as the Devils moved to 5-1 on the season.

Junior attack Marykate DiBendetto (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) had three goals and an assist for Montclair State, which dropped its second straight contest and fell to 1-3.

FDU-Florham jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game. Gambardello scored on a free-position attempt at 2:58 and Specht registered the first of her five tallies with 23:04 remaining. Gambardello collected her second on another free-position score and Schuster's first with 18:10 left in the first half gave the Devils a four-goal cushion. Specht's second and 17th of the season put FDU ahead 5-0 with 17:55 left.

Montclair State would cut the lead to 5-2 as KATE BARRIE (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) and DiBenedetto scored in a span of 1:42, but Schuster ignited a four-goal run with her second tally as FDU-Florham opened up a 9-2 lead with just under eight minutes to play before half.

The Red Hawks would counter with their own four-goal spurt that carried into the second half. BETHANY BLAINE (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) notched the third of those four late in the first half and added another 1:29 into the second to bring MSU within 9-6. However, Specht scored unassisted and Wayne fed Erin Reilly (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) with 24:21 left before Gambardello and Wayne each netted goals as the Devils boosted the lead back to 12-6.

Junior goalkeeper Christine Dunn (Pennsauken, NJ / Pennsauken) made eight saves in goal for FDU-Florham while Montclair's TALIA KATZ (Lower Merion, PA / Lower Merion) stopped 11 shots. Wayne added six draws and three ground balls for FDU, which held a 29-26 advantage in shots, and won 16 of the 28 draws contested. JENNIFER TANIS (Oak Ridge, NJ / Jefferson) had four draws and three ground balls for the Red Hawks.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday, March 27. Montclair State is on the road in Willimantic, CT to face Eastern Connecticut in a rematch of last year's first-round NCAA Division III Tournament game at 4:00 pm. FDU-Florham is back home in Madison to take on Mt. St. Vincent at 7:00 pm.
