Mansfield, CT - Montclair won its fifth straight and improved to 15-2 all-time in games played at Eastern against the Warriors.
Six of Montclair's runs came on home runs, with
JEFF MILLER (Wyckoff, NJ / Ramapo) hitting a solo home run (his first of the year) to give Montclair a 1-0 lead in the third and a two-run home run in the ninth to make it 7-4.
ROB BOWNESS hit a three-run home run in the sixth for Montclair that tied the game at 4-4.
Trailing 7-4 in the ninth, Eastern scored twice on Melvin Castillo's two-out, two-run single to left, but the Warriors stranded the tying run at second.
Eastern scored four unearned runs in the third to take a 4-1 lead. With two out, Castillo had a two-run double to left-center and freshman Andrew Dewing hit a two-run home run to left-center.
Miller of Montclair was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Castillo and Dewing – batting 3-4 in the order for Eastern – each had two hits and scored a run and combined for all six of Eastern's RBI.
The Red Hawks retun to action Saturday, April 5th as they take on Ramapo College in a doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium. First game starts at 12:00pm.
