Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 6 Men's Cruises Past Staten Island, 10-1

Staten Island, NY (9/17/08) – Junior forward Daragh Odea netted a hat trick and added an assist while freshman BILL BAKER collected two goals and an assist off the bench as fifth-ranked Montclair State rolled to its seventh straight victory with a 10-1 win over Staten Island on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior TYLER MASTERSON had a goal and an assist as the Red Hawks moved to 7-0 for the second time in three years.

Despite the scoring output by the Red Hawks, it was CSI that struck first in the match. At the 11:17 mark of the first half, senior Sam Musovic delivered a terrific pass to the far right corner, finding the boot of Konstantinos Koulouris, who crossed the ball in the box. CSI senior Jason Ribeiro then extended his goal-scoring game streak to four games, netting his fifth goal of the year on a header that beat MSU keeper TEDDY RITTER.

With MSU mounting a feverish attack, the shots came fast and furious, and eventually, the tide turned in the Red Hawks' favor. A WILLIAM GRIFFIN header to the far post got MSU on the board at the 27:05 mark, and Masterson knocked home a loose ball rebound just 1:41 later to give MSU the lead for good. The Red Hawks added another pair of goals as ARGJENT DUKA and Odea each scored to extend the lead to 4-1 at halftime.

In the second half, MSU scored three of their six goals in the game's final five minutes. Odea and Baker added two goals apiece in the frame. Freshman RODRIGO SANTIAGO added two assists for Montclair.

CSI's Bryan Duarte made 15 saves for CSI, who were outshot in the contest 43-3.

The Red Hawks had 26 shots on net and also held an 8-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, September 20, as it opens up NJAC play at Sprague Field. MSU, the two-time defending conference champion, squares off against Rowan University at 4:00 pm.
