Women's Soccer Shuts Out Farmingdale State 4-0

Farmingdale, NY (10/17/09) – Senior forward LIZA OFFREDA (East Rutherford, NJ / Midland Park) scored once and assisted on another goal as Montclair State blanked Farmingdale State, 4-0 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Senior goalkeeper LEAH TEPPERMAN (North Andover, MA / North Andover) stopped nine shots for her seventh shutout of the season as the Red Hawks improved to 8-3-2 with their third win in their last four contests.

Montclair State did not waste any time scoring the games opening goal at the 11:20 mark. Offreda netted the pass from CHRISTINA NUNES (Morris Hills, N.J./Parsippany Hills), putting the Red Hawks up 1-0. Freshman forward STEPHANIE BARBULESCU (Franklin, N.J./Pope John XXIII) scored off a goalie rebound for Montclair State's second goal three minutes before halftime.

Only 48 seconds into the second half, junior midfielder JACKIE MCGRATH (Vernon, N.J./Vernon) scored off Offreda's corner kick, putting the Red Hawks up 3-0. Freshman midfielder ZOE MANDARO (Hawthorne, N.J.Hawthorne Christian) would add Montclair State's final goal in the 78th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) takes the loss with five saves for Farmingdale State.

The Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, October 20 as they travel to Pomona, NJ to face Richard Stockton in a 7:00 pm matchup.
