ANNA CHESNAKOVA (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) collected 16 kills and eight total blocks, however the Montclair State volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic held at Susquehanna University on Friday evening.
Seniors Sam Karpinski (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) and
KAREN MARTIN (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Township) each had 12 kills in the two matches as the Red Hawks lost to York (PA) in three sets and NJAC rival Richard Stockton in four sets. Montclair is now 6-9 on the season.
Against York, MSU fell 25-15, 26-24, 25-10 despite seven kills and 10 digs from Karpinski. Chesnakova had four kills and three blocks with Martin contributing three kills and 11 digs. Freshman setter
JENNA TOTARO (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) collected 15 assists while junior
KRISTEN BRONOWICH (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) posted 11 digs.
Chesnakova registered 12 kills in 13 attempts without and error as Montclair fell to Richard Stockton, 28-26, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16. She also added five block assists in the match. Martin and
KARA BURNHAM (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) had nine kills apiece with
ADRIANNE MOE (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) added six kills along with eight digs. Burnham also had seven total blocks (2 solo, five assists). Bronowich had a team-best 25 digs with Martin and Karpinski adding 17 and 13, respectively. Totaro recorded a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs.
Montclair State continues action in the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic on Saturday. MSU will face host Susquehanna at 1:00 pm followed by a 3:00 pm contest with another NJAC rival, Rowan University.
