Danville, VA – The Montclair State baseball team fell to 0-3 on its southern swing as the Red Hawks fell short against Averett University, 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

KEVIN BOND belted a pair of home runs for MSU (2-5).
Bond gave Montclair a 1-0 lead in the first inning with the first of his two home runs. Averett would answer with a run in the third and took the lead in the sixth. Bond would tie the game in the top of the eighth with his second blast, however the Cougars countered with two in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 4-2.
JAY BIONDE made it a one-run game in the ninth with an RBI single, but that would be as close as the Red Hawks would get.
ED KLOEPPING had three hits for Montclair State with Bond and
KEVIN MILLER each recording two.
ZACHARY BROWN (0-1) took the loss in relief.
DANIEL NODARSE went the first six inning allowing two unearned runs and five hits with six strikeouts.
Montclair continues action with grueling doubleheader in two states on Thursday. MSU takes on Averett in VA early before heading down to Fayetteville, NC for a 7:00 pm matchup with Methodist University.
