Montclair, N.J. (March 25, 2009) – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team never trailed and knocked off Western Connecticut 9-6 at Sprague Field.
After eight and a half scoreless minutes, the Red Hawks bridged the first and second quarters with three goals.
TYLER METH opened with an unassisted tally before
TYLER MEIXNER assisted on the final two goals of the run. Tom Begley scored with 25 ticks left in the second quarter to help West Conn. cut into the lead. MSU entered halftime with a 5-2 advantage.
The teams traded goals to open the third, before Adam Lanehart scored just 1:03 into the third to trim the Red Hawk lead down to two at 7-5. The Colonels were unable to get any closer, with
ROBERT SINICOLA and
MIKE CORSETTO each scoring midway through the fourth.
Meth, Corsetto, and
JOHN SCHIAVONE all tallied two goals, while
PATRICK FERRY and
ANTHONY DZIENKIEWICZ recorded four caused turnovers.
