Women's Lacrosse Blanks Polytechnic

Montclair, NJ (4/8/09) – Freshman CORA DELFINI (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) scored four times while junior LAUREN ADAMS (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) added three goals and two assists as Montclair State posted a 20-0 victory over Polytechnic in a Skyline Conference contest at Sprague Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior MARYKATE DIBENEDETTO (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) registered a goal and six assists as the Red Hawks improved to 3-7 overall, 2-1 in the Skyline Conference with their first shutout in five seasons.  Montclair's last shutout win came on April 12, 2004 in a 15-0 win over Centenary College.  

Goalkeeper Anne Li (Long Island City, NJ / School of the Future) had seven saves or the Fighting Blue Jays, which fell to 0-6 overall, 0-2 in the league.

The Red Hawks scored seven times in the first seven minutes. JAMIE HUDACKO (Montville, NJ / Montville) got MSU on the board 2:26 into the game and ALEX SCERBAK (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) scored 26 seconds later. DiBendetto collected her only goal of the contest with 26:12 left and MAGGIE FALLON (Cherry Hill, NJ / Camden Catholic) netted a goal with 25:39 to go as MSU led 5-0. Delfini's first goal 31 second later extended the lead to six with Adams capping off the game-opening run as Montclair State led 7-0 with 23:48 to play before halftime.

Meanwhile the MSU defense held Polytechnic without a shot in the game while collecting 30, including 21 in the first half.

Fallon finished with two goals and three assists while MORGAN MACPHEE (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) netted a hat trick scoring three goals.  Sophomore KAYLA HENDERSON (Succasunna, NJ/ Roxbury) had four draw controls.

MSU goalkeepers CHRISTINA CROSSIN (Milford, CT / Lauralton Hall) and TRACEY MANELLA (Haworth, NJ / Northern Valley-Demarest) combined on the shutout.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, April 11 as MSU hosts Rowan University at Sprague Field beginning at 1:00 pm.
