Selinsgrove, PA (9/19/09) – Junior forward DEANA HAGEL (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) and senior MEGAN WALSH (Lumberton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) each netted a goal and assist over the final 35 minutes as Montclair State used a strong second-half surge for a 3-1 victory over Susquehanna University at Sassafras Fields on Saturday afternoon.

JESSICA MURPHY (West Long Branch, NJ / Shore Regional) also added a goal as the Red Hawks improved to 4-2.

Sophomore forward Heather Moore (Columbus, N.J./Peddie) scored the only goal for Susquehanna off a pass from freshman midfielder Allison Abey (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) in the13th minute of the first half as the Crusaders fell to 2-5.

Moore gave Susquehanna the lead at the 12:56 mark as she tipped in a shot by Abey over the goalkeeper and into the right corner of the cage. Montclair State had a 3-2 advantage in shots in the second half, but could not manage anything past Crusader keeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, NJ / Seneca).

In the second half, the Red Hawks clamped down on defense allowing just one shot, while offensively, it put the pressure on Susquehanna, outshooting the Crusaders 9-1. MSU would get the equalizer 5:07 into the second half as Walsh put a centering pass into the circle where Hagel was able to redirect the ball into the cage for the 1-1 tie.

Fifteen minutes later, Montclair would get the go-ahead score as Walsh knocked a shot underneath Ferguson's pads for her first of the season.

Murphy would make the final score as MSU was awarded a penalty corner as time expired. The Red Hawks made the most of the opportunity as Murphy banged in a pass from Hagel off the corner.

Ferguson finished with three saves while Montclair's MEGAN BOSLAND (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) stopped one shot.
