Montclair, NJ (9/11/10) – The Montclair State volleyball lost its final two matches in the MSU Classic on Saturday as the Red Hawks were beaten by St. Mary's (MD) and Cortland at the Panzer Athletic Center.
Freshman libero Kaitlin Irwin (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) posted 32 digs and four service aces as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. MSU fell to in straight sets to St. Mary's (25-12, 25-22, 25-18) and Cortland (25-12, 25-7, 25-16) falling to 0-9 on the year.
Freshman
MARTA TOPOR (Bogota, NJ / Bogota) collected a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs versus St. Mary's. Sophomore
ALYSSA BATISTE (Manahawkin, NJ / Southern Regional) had six kills, seven assists and nine digs while
KRISTEN BRONOWICH (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) collected three kills and seven digs. Irwin led the team with 18 digs and setter
BELLA MILSTEIN (Edison, NJ / JP Stevens) recorded 12 assists.
Irwin had 14 digs and two service aces in the loss to Cortland. Batiste had five kills, four assists and nine digs with Totpor getting six kills and four digs. Milstein had eight assists with
MEGAN COCKCROFT (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) adding three kills and three digs.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, September 15 as they head to New York City to face No. 19 New York University at 7:00 pm.
