Montclair, NJ – Senior attack
Kailee Beal (Succasunna, NJ, Roxbury) scored five goals while sophomore attack
Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, NJ, Caldwell) added four goals and an assist as second-seeded Montclair State used a strong first half to advance to the Skyline Conference Championship game with a 16-9 win over third-seeded St. Joseph's College on Thursday.
Sophomore
Jenna Bussiere (Dayton, NJ, South Brunswick) added three goals as the Red Hawks advance to their eighth straight league title game. The Red Hawks (14-3) will face top-seeded Farmingdale State for the conference crown and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, April 27 in Long Island, NY at Noon.
MSU, which has won six of the last seven Skyline championships, will look to avenge a 16-15 loss to the Rams on April 13, a game won by Farmingdale on a goal with eight seconds remaining. It will also be a rematch of last year's title game won by Montclair State 15-13 at Farmingdale State.
Freshman attack Heather Ferchland (Selden, NY / Centereach) scored four times for the Golden Eagles (12-6), who had their four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. St. Joseph's also fell to Montclair State for the second time this season as it also dropped a 15-13 contest at Sprague Field on April 11.
Montclair got out to a 2-0 lead in the early part of the game as Beal scored 54 seconds into the contest and
Conlon netted the first of her goals with 26:18 remaining. Lisa Olen (East Islip, NY / East Islip) answered for St. Joseph's with a free-position goal however the Red Hawks would run off the final six goals of the period to take an 8-1 halftime lead.
Bussiere tallied twice and
Kara Crampton (Kinnelon, NJ, Kinnelon) scored 43 seconds after the second Buissiere tally for a 5-1 MSU lead with 17:56 remaining. Crampton set up
Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) who then assisted on a goal by
Kasey Maguire (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) giving MSU a 7-1 lead with 5:47 to play. Beal got the final goal with just over four minutes remaining as the Red Hawks took the seven-goal lead into the break.
In the second half, Ferchman and teammate Jackie Myers (Coram, NY / Pacthogue-Medford) got two quick goals as the Golden Eagles got back into the game at 8-3. Conlon answered those two goals with two of her own and another by Beal with 21:25 made the score 11-3. After a Caitlyn Webber (Eastport, NY / Eastport-South Manor) goal, the Red Hawks tallied four more times to take a 15-4 lead with 7:38 to play.
St. Joseph's wasn't through putting together a five-goal run, three by Ferchland as the deficit closed to 15-9 with 26 second left.
Beal added three draws and three caused turnovers for Montclair State while Schoneveld posted a team-best five draws.

Tiffani Henderson (Landing, NJ, Roxbury) had six saves along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Webber had six draws for St. Joseph's while Nicole Lyman (West Babylon, NY / West Babylon) added four draw, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior goalkeeper Erin O'Connor (Nesconset, NY / St. Anthony's) made 10 saves.
