Arielle Galgano (Cedar Run, NJ, Southern Regional) each had two goals as top-ranked Montclair State recorded its fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 win at Misericordia on Saturday.

Allison Jillions (Hainesport, NJ, Holy Cross) had two assists for the Red Hawks, who outshot the Cougars (1-5), 32-4 in the game in winning for the fifth time in seven all-time meetings with Misericordia.
Scoreless through much of the first half, Montclair State scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the opening period. Galgano netted the first goals with a backhand shot off a feed from Jillions at 26:50. Tafro scored four minutes later on an unassisted tally giving MSU a 2-0 lead at the break.
Galgano quickly extended the lead to 3-0 4:37 into the second with her second goal of the game and Tafro set up freshman
Gianna Moglino (Holmdel, NJ, Holmdel) at the 44:58 mark to put Montclair State in front 4-0.
Tafro got the final goal 1:58 later blasting in a shot from the top of the circle from Jillions. The five-point game by Tafro gave her 83 points for her career tying her with Jen Soss (2003-06) for fourth on the all-time MSU list. She also tied Kristen Swartz (2003-06) for seventh on the goals list with 32.
Rebecca Brattole (Clark, NJ, Arthur L. Johnson) made one save for MSU, which had 17 penalty corners in the game compared to just two for Misericordia.
The Red Hawks are back home on Wednesday, September 18 to take on Ramapo College in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener at 7:00 pm.
