Newburgh, NY – The Montclair State volleyball team ran its winning streak to four as the Red Hawks swept a tri-match at Mt. St. Mary College on Saturday. MSU (8-5) knocked off the host Knights, 3-0 before coming back to post a four-set win versus Lehman.

Kaitlyn Irwin (Cranford, NJ, Cranford) became the program's all-time leader for digs while freshman
Courtney Matlock (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial) slammed 24 kills in the two victories. MSU defeated Mt. St. Mary 25-21, 25-15 and 25-18. Against Lehman the Red Hawks grabbed the first two sets by identical 25-16 scores before falling in the third 28-26. MSU won 25-19 in the fourth for the victory.
Matlock had 10 kills with
Dana McNish (Hawthorne, NJ, Hawthorne) recording seven in the win over Mt. St. Mary. Senior
Marta Topor (Bogota, NJ, Bogota) and freshman
Rebecca Matasker (Washington Township, NJ, Westwood) each had five. Irwin had a team-high 10 digs as she overtook Lauren Mazurkiewicz (1995-98) for the all-time Montclair State lead in that category.
Setter
Angela Campo (Washington Township, NJ, Westwood) collected 27 assists and seven digs with
Samantha Szura (Hewitt, NJ, Ramapo) and Topor each getting seven digs. Matasker had four total blocks.
Matlock registered her seventh match of 13 or more kills in the win against Lehman. She also had six digs. Campo had 39 assists, nine digs and also added six kills. Topor had six kills with McNish and Matasker each posting five. Szura had 15 digs while Irwin notched 19 to give her 1,785 for her career.
The Red Hawks are now off until Thursday, October 3 when it hosts four-time defending NJAC champion Richard Stockton at the Panzer Athletic Center.
