Lucas Terci (Union, NJ, Union) had two goals and an assist while freshman
Aaron Rose (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) also scored twice as Montclair State got back on the winning track with a 6-0 victory over Brooklyn College on Monday evening.
Junior
Brian Cullen (Clementon, NJ, Highland Regional) and freshman
Mike Olla (Bloomfield, NJ, St. Benedict's Prep) each scored once as the Red Hawks (8-2-1) got back into the win column and going 0-2-1 in their previous three contests.
Junior goalkeeper Kamil Ostrowski (Warsaw, Poland / Bishop Ford) made four saves for the Bulldogs (5-5), who dropped their second straight in their first meeting with Montclair State in 39 years.
The teams last played in 1974 with Brooklyn College posting a 1-0 victory. Montclair State won the initial contest the previous year 2-0.
Cullen gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead less than nine minutes into the contest. Junior
Jon Krzysik (Clifton, NJ, Paramus Catholic) played a long ball over the top to Cullen who fired a shot inside the right post for his fifth of the season at the 8:42 mark.
Terci would set up Rose's first goal at 31:33 crossing in a pass from the right wing as Montclair State led 2-0 at halftime.
Olla netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season at 51:41 for a 3-0 lead and Cullen set up Terci 1:38 later pushing the lead to four goals. Terci scored again off an assist by
Maxx Wurzburger (Glen Rock, NJ, Glen Rock) in the 59th minute before Rose capped off the scoring with 13:40 to play.
Ryan Morris (Freehold, NJ, Freehold Township) and
Joe Borrajo (Clifton, NJ, Clifton) each had an assist for MSU which outshot the Bulldogs 23-10 in the contest in addition to a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Freshman
Michael Gonzalez (Kenilworth, NJ, Union Catholic) made four saves in the first 85:45 of the contest before
Kevin Halloran (Oakland, NJ, Indian Hills) finished up for Montclair's fifth shutout of the season.
Montclair State jumps back into New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, October 2 as it hosts Rutgers-Newark at MSU Soccer Park with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm. Brooklyn College is on the road that same evening as the Bulldogs head to Lehman.
