Montclair, NJ - Junior safety Eric Gargiulo (Cranford, NJ, Cranford) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He is the second different Red Hawks to win the honor this season and it marks the fifth straight week that Montclair has collected one of the league's weekly accolades.

Gargiulo earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after tying an NCAA Division III record by becoming the 12th player to ever intercept five passes in a single game during MSU's 35-15 NJAC road win at Southern Virginia and the first Division III player since Ben Matthews of Bethel did it against Gustavus Adolphus in September of 2000. With the performance which established a new MSU record for interceptions in a game, he now has seven picks in his last two contests.

Two of the interceptions were turned into MSU touchdowns and he also had three total tackles and two more pass breakups to give him seven passes defended in the game.

Gargiulo currently leads the NJAC in interceptions (7).
