Meet Results
Ewing, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up their New Jersey Athletic Conference schedules on Friday at The College of New Jersey. The MSU men (0-2, 0-1 NJAC) fell to the Lions 173-107 while the women (0-2, 0-1 NJAC) dropped a 192-102 decision.
CHRISTINE WERNER and
KATHERINE LACAVA each came away with two individual victories for the Red Hawk women. Werner swept the breaststroke events taking the 100 in a time of 1:11.30 and captured the 200 event posting a time of 2:34.33. LaCava did the same in the butterfly taking first in the 100 fly at 1:02.95 in addition to winning the 200 event in a time of 2:17.66.
Junior
SYDNEY STEIN had three second-place finishes on the event in the 1000 freestyle (11:45.38), 500 freestyle (5:23.47) and 200 butterfly (2:20.12). Werner picked up a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:21.17) and
JESSICA JOSEPH was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.53). French collected a second in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.14) and
KARA O'SULLIVAN was second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.45).
For the men, divers
SAMUEL MITCHELL and
GREG BAUWENS took the top two positions in each second. Mitchell finished first 5-dive event at 152.00 points with Bauwens posting a score of 135.20 for second place. The two reversed roles in the second section with Bauwens scoring 198.95 points and Mitchell 159.95 points.
BRENDAN TURNER and
ROB MOOREHOUSE were second and third in the 100 freestyle at 52.28 and 56.36, respectively.
MICHAEL PACHECO was second in the 200 butterfly (2:09.33) and later added a third-place finish in the 100 fly (58.87).
ANDREW DAMATO was in the 100 fly (58.73) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:13.08).
NICANDRO DONADIO placed second in the 200 breaststroke with
DAN KNEPPLE finishing right behind at (2:25.38).
KEVIN KOLESA was second in the 500 freestyle (5:30.42) while
DEVON D'AGOSTA, who finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:08.99), was second in the 200 IM at 2:09.44.
BRIAN UBHAUS was second in the 200 backstroke (2:07.55).
Both teams head right back into action on Saturday, October 25 at the Union College Relays at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
