Freshman
KAITLYN STRUSS added a goal for the Red Hawks (13-4), who gave head coach
Beth Gottung her 200th career victory. MSU closed out its conference slate at 4-2 and will enter the NJAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. Montclair, which has won the last two conference titles, will face either Rowan or The College of New Jersey in a semifinal contest on Wednesday, November 5 at a site and time to be determined.
Butrico collected her first career hat trick and put the Red Hawks on the board early in the first half as she finished off a feed from
GIANNA MOGLINO at the 11:03 mark.
The 1-0 score would hold through the remainder of the half and Montclair State added to it scoring three times over the final 35 minutes. Struss tallied her team-leading 17th goal of the season off an assist from Butrico who then scored twice over a five-minute span boosting the MSU lead to 4-0 with 10:23 remaining.
CAITLIN CALIGUIRE registered the final goal, the first of her career.
Junior goalkeeper
REBECCA BRATTOLE, who made a career-best 19 saves in her last outing against Rowan on Saturday, needed to make just one as MSU outshot the Roadrunners, 36-3. Brattole played the first 65 minutes before giving way to
KAITLIN MAGUIRE, who finished up for the Red Hawks fourth shutout of the season.
