TYLER MADISON registered a goal and assist as 10th-ranked Montclair State captured its third straight NJAC regular-season title with a 4-0 win over Rutgers-Newark at MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday evening.

JENNIE HORNSTRA each added goals as the Red Hawks extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games with the victory while capping off an 8-0-1 NJAC slate. MSU will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament which gets underway on Saturday, November 1. The Red Hawks will have a first-round bye and host a semifinal matchup on Tuesday, November 4 at 7:00 pm.
Junior goalkeeper Veronika Tueros (Perth Amboy, NJ / Perth Amboy) stopped three shots for the Scarlet Raiders (12-6-2, 4-4-1 NJAC), who had their four-match unbeaten streak halted. Rutgers-Newark is headed to the NJAC Tournament for the first time and will play in Saturday's first round.
Fasano, one of 10 MSU seniors honored before the game on Wednesday, had a chance early to put Montclair on the board however her shot from the top-right side of the box went wide. She would get another opportunity in the 22nd minute and this time converted as she took a cross from the right side by senior
BRITTANY COOPER and one-timed it past Tueros for her 13th goal of the season.
Gomes extended the lead to 2-0 at the 34:44 mark of the opening period, her fourth of the season. Madison played a ball across left side of the box to Gomes, who went 1-on-1 against Tueros before firing a shot inside the 6 for the score as Montclair State took the two-goal lead into the break.
Madison collected her fifth goal of the season 13:32 into the second half making the score 3-0. The freshman moved toward the end line on the right side before lofting a bending ball across the goalmouth that tucked under the crossbar on the left side.
Hornstra netted the final goal with 20:40 left as she headed in a long serve from the left side by
KIMBERLY MIGNONE. It was Hornstra's eighth goal of the year.

GINA POLICASTRO picked up the shutout, her 13th of the season and 43rd of her career, two shy of the MSU career record.
