Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Rolls past Elizabethtown, 18-1 for Sixth Straight Win as Red Hawks Remain Unbeaten

Praggio, Bussiere, Schonveld Each Score Three

Elizabethtown, PA – Freshman Aviana Paraggio (Sewell, NJ, Washington Township), junior Jenna Bussiere (Dayton, NJ, South Brunswick) and senior Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) each scored in the first 51 seconds of the game as Montclair State rolled to its sixth straight victory in an 18-1 win over Elizabethtown College on Tuesday afternoon.

All three players scored three goals apiece while junior Tierney Conlon (Caldwell, NJ, Caldwell) had a goal and six assists as the Red Hawks remained unbeaten at 6-0, the second-best start in program history. The win streak to open the season is second to the 2004 squad which won its first eight contests.

Paraggio scored 18 seconds in as she finished off a feed from Schoneveld and Bussiere converted a pass from Conlon 15 seconds later before Schoneveld's goal with 29:09 left made it a 3-0 lead for the Red Hawks.  Bussiere scored with 26:27 remaining and Vanessa Rey (Toms River, NJ, Toms River North) and Kasey Maguire (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) scored 23 seconds apart a minute later extending the lead to 6-0.

Serena Hitchins (Voorhees, NJ, Eastern Regional) scored for a seven-goal lead before the Blue Jays (0-5) snapped the run with a free-position goal from Addie Stang with 16:45 left in the first half. Conlon scored next for MSU and then set up goals by Bussiere and Schoneveld making the score 10-1. Paraggio, Francesca Verrone (Flanders, NJ, Mount Olive) and Krissa Henderson (Landing, NJ, Roxbury) tallied the final goals of the half as Montclair led 13-1 at the break.

Alexa DiPiero (Cherry Hill, NJ, Cherry Hill East) finished with a goal and three assists while Verrone and Hitchins each scored twice. Kylie Allmers (Freehold, NJ, Colts Neck) and Emily Wong (River Edge, NJ, River Dell) each picked up an assist. Maguire had three draws and Henderson led the Red Hawks with three ground balls.

Alexandra Tepper (Flanders, NJ, Mount Olive) stopped three shots for MSU before giving way to Rebecca Myers (River Edge, NJ, River Dell) in the final 7:39 of the contest.

Montclair State returns to action on Thursday, March 20 as it hosts Farmingdale State at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm. It will be the first meeting between the two teams as non-conference foes after the two spent eight years as members of the Skyline Conference. MSU, which now plays in the NJAC exclusively, fell to the Rams during the regular season in both 2012 and 2013 but came back to win the Skyline Conference Championship Game each year.
