Montclair, NJ – Sophomore attack Andrew Scrutchfield (Lewes, DE / Cape Henlopen) scored a pair of second-half goals while freshman goalkeeper Kevin Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY / Islip) stopped 11 shots over the final two periods as Stevens handed 10th-ranked Montclair State its first loss of the season with a 10-7 victory at Sprague Field on Wednesday evening.
Junior midfielder Michael Maroon (Virginia Beach, VA / Cape Henry) finished with four goals for the Ducks (2-5), who snapped a five-game losing streak by holding its in-state rival to just one goal over the final 37 minutes of the contest. Stevens also picked up its sixth straight win over Montclair State.

Michael Schreck (Flemington, NJ, Hunterdon Central) had a goal and two assists for MSU, which outshot Stevens 53-34 in the game, including 33-14 in the second half.
Knotted 6-6 at halftime, Rafferty, who stopped 14 shots total, made seven saves in the third period while Scrutchfield scored the only goal with an unassisted tally with 10:35 left as Stevens took a one-goal into the fourth.
Scrutchfield, who finished with three goals and an assist pushed the lead to 8-6 two minutes into the final quarter with Maroon adding his four goal 46 seconds later as the Ducks widened the lead to 9-6 with 12:13 to go. Rafferty would make two of his four saves over the next three minutes before Charlie Cronin (Northampton, MA / Northampton) gave Stevens a 10-6 lead with 8:43 remaining.
Montclair State would finally end its scoring drought as
Sam Morrissey (Hackettstown, NJ, West Morris Central) finished off a failed clear by Stevens pulling the Red Hawks within 10-7 with 6:32 to play however the Stevens used a combination a patient offense and solid defense to run off the final six minutes for the victory.

Steve Danyluk (Raritan, NJ, Bridgewater-Raritan) 27 seconds later gave Montclair State a 2-0 lead with 11:46 left. Michael Serrante (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) and Scrutchfield countered with the next two goals before Michael Schreck's unassisted goal with 7:35 left put MSU back in front 3-2.

Alex Hahn (Hackettstown, NJ, Pope John XXIII) to open the fourth regained for the lead for Montclair State. The teams traded the final four goals of the second period for the 6-6 tie at halftime.
Jeff Wyckoff (Summit, NJ / Summit) was 6-of-8 on faceoffs for the Ducks with Brett Incollingo (Yardley, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) adding six faceoff wins as Stevens went 12-of-21 at the X. Tim Culloty (Mahwah, NJ / Mahwah) had nine ground balls with Maroon, Incollingo and Scrtuchfield each recording three.
Brad Pietrucha (Bridgewater, NJ, Bridgewater-Raritan) had seven faceoff wins for MSU which received a new single-game record eight caused turnovers from freshman
Ryan Young (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial), who also added seven ground balls. Young broke the mark of seven set by All-American Pat Ferry in 2007 and equaled by Anthony Dzienkiewicz the following year.
