No. 11 Men's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight; Red Hawks Down Farmingdale State, 15-7

Finn Scores Four as MSU Stays Unbeaten in Skyline Play

Farmingdale, NY – Sophomore Don Finn (Wall, NJ, Christian Brothers Academy) scored four goals and added two assists while Shane Raymond (Old Bridge, NJ, Old Bridge) and Sam Morrissey (Hackettstown, NJ, West Morris Central) had three goals and one assist apiece as No. 11 Montclair State won its fifth straight beating Farmingdale State 15-7 on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Michael Jevic (Voorhees, NJ, Eastern Regional) and Alex Hahn (Hackettstown, NJ, Pope John XXIII) had two goals each for MSU, which upped its record to 11-1 on the year, 4-0 in the Skyline with the win.

Finn gave Montclair State a 1-0 lead 1:18 into the game scoring on the man-advantage. Jevic scored with 5:48 left and again with 39 seconds remaining helping MSU to a 3-1 lead after one period. A goal by Raymond to open the second pushed the advantage to three goals. After Farmingdale got one back, Finn began a three-goal run by Montclair extending the lead to 7-2 with 3:10 to go. Morrissey and Hahn had the other two goals.

Blase Mantineo (Flemington, NJ, Hunterdon Central) and Hahn scored inside the final minute giving the Red Hawks a 9-4 lead at the break. Raymond's second goal 42 seconds into the third made the score 10-4.

The Rams (6-5, 2-2 Skyline) scored twice to get within 10-6 however Finn and Raymond added goals to close out the period as the Red Hawks led 12-6.

Senior goalkeeper Michael Dorn (Blairstown, NJ, North Warren) made 12 saves for Montclair State, which got an 8-of-15 faceoff, eight ground ball effort from Mantineo. Michael Schreck (Flemington, NJ, Hunterdon Central) forced four turnovers with Jevic getting three as Montclair forced 17 in the game. Defenders Len Bellezza (Plainsboro, NJ, West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Ryan Young (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial) had two apiece with Young recording a team-best six ground balls.

The Red Hawks are home on Wednesday, April 16 hosting Maritime College at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm. It will be Senior Night as MSU will honor its four senior members – Morrissey, Dorn, Marc Scoran and Blake Vernam.
