Jevic Four Goals for 10-1 Montclair State

Yonkers, NY – Junior attack Michael Jevic (Voorhees, NJ, Eastern Regional) scored four times and added an assist while Connor Cunningham registered his second straight hat trick as 11th-ranked Montclair State posted its fourth consecutive victory with a 16-4 win over College of Mount St. Vincent on Wednesday evening.

Sam Morrissey (Hackettstown, NJ, West Morris Central), Shane Raymond (Old Bridge, NJ, Old Bridge) and Alex Hahn (Hackettstown, NJ, Pope John XXIII) each had two goals as the Red Hawks (10-1, 3-0 Skyline) scored the first five goals of the game en route to the conference victory.

Jevic gave the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead 1:49 into the contest with an unassisted goal and the Red Hawks added three man-up tallied in a span of 1:14 later in the period. Cunningham got the first and Hahn scored the next two 49 seconds apart for a 4-0 MSU lead with 9:12 left. Morrissey capped the game-opening run three minutes later as Montclair led 6-2 after one period.

Cunningham netted his second early in the second period to begin a nine-goal run by Montclair State than spanned until 9:13 to play in the fourth. Raymond had two of those goals in the second staking the Red Hawks to a 10-2 lead at the break. Morrissey and Jevic accounted for the only goals in the third and scores by Connor Rich (Roxbury, NJ, Roxbury), Justin Russo (Holmdel, NJ, Holmdel) and Marc Scoran (Old Bridge, NJ, Old Bridge) gave Montclair a 15-2 lead with 9:14 left in the fourth.

Goalkeeper Michael Dorn (Blairstown, NJ, North Warren) made six saves in 50-plus minutes of action before Lucas Jones came on and made one save in the final 9:13 of the fourth. Freshman Brad Pietrucha (Bridgewater, NJ, Bridgewater-Raritan), the Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Week, dominated again on faceoffs winning 10-of-12 with five ground balls. Freshman defender Ryan Young (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial) also had an outstanding night with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.

MSU returns to action on Saturday, April 12 as it heads to Farmingdale, NY to face Farmingdale State at 1:00 pm in a Skyline Conference contest
