St. Mary's, MD - The Montclair State women's soccer team, ranked eighth in Division III, bounced back from its one-goal loss to No. 6 Johns Hopkins with a 2-0 victory over St. Mary's College in the SMDHOTELS.com Seahawk Classic on Saturday.

Junior Martina Landeka (Westfield, NJ, Westfield) scored once and the Red Hawks benefited from an own goal to even their record at 1-1. The Montclair defense, which ranked among the best in Division III a year ago, held St. Mary's to just one shot as it recorded its first shutout of the season.

Montclair's two goals came five mintues apart. After getting the first at 13:21 on the own goal, Landeka, who assisted on MSU's goal in Friday's contest with Johns Hopkins, recorded her first of the year at 18:31 knocking in a pass from Kendel Bernardini (Elmer, NJ, Schalick).

Senior goalkeeper Gina Policastro (East Brunswick, NJ, East Brunswick) earned the shutout, the 31st of her career which is currently second on the all-time MSU list.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, September 3 taking on Brooklyn College in their home opener at MSU Soccer Park beginning at 7:00 pm.
