Purchase, NY - The Montclair State volleyball team swept its way to a pair of victories on Saturday as the Red Hawks knocked off Farmingdale State and Albertus Magnus in the Panther Invitational on Saturday.
MSU (7-2), which extended its winning streak to three, defeated Farmingdale State 25-12, 25-17 and 25-20. Freshman
Hayley Merrill (West Windsor, NJ, West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had nine kills while sophomore
Courtney Matlock (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial) added seven kills. Sophomore
Melissa Terpstra (Midland Park, NJ, Midland Park) served up six aces. Terpstra had nine kills with
Courtney LePore (Deer Park, NY, Deer Park) and
Rebecca Matasker (Washington Township, NJ, Westwood) getting five apiece as the Red Hawks defeated Albertus Magnus 25-17, 25-5, 25-15.
Kimberly Matlock (Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial) posted 18 assists with
Samantha Szura (Hewitt, NJ, Ramapo)registering 11 digs.
Montclair State is back in action on Sunday, September 14 with two more matches in the Panther Invitational. The Red Hawks take on SUNYIT at 1:00 pm followed by a 3:00 pm match with the host Panthers.
