Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team got goals from four different players as the Red Hawks picked up their second straight New Jersey Athletic Conference victory with a 4-0 win at Richard Stockton on Saturday afternoon.
Brian Cullen (Clementon, NJ, Highland Regional),
Lucas Terci (Union, NJ, Union),
Aaron Rose (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) and
Kyle Goodwin (South Brunswick, NJ, South Brunswick) each had goals for the Red Hawks, who improved to 6-3 overall, 2-0 in the NJAC.
Cullen got the Red Hawks on the board 10:18 into the contest as he finished off a crossing pass from
Damian Bziukiewicz (East Rutherford, NJ, Becton Regional) for his third of the season. It would be the only goal of the first half for MSU which outshot the Ospreys 6-2 in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, MSU turned up the offensive intensity with 13 shots compared to just four by Stockton and it showed in the scoring column as Montclair State found the back of the net three times.
Terci collected his fourth goal of the season at 62:43 blasting in a shot from 30 yards into the upper corner of the goal before Rose slipped past the Osprey defense off a free kick from goalie
Michael Gonzalez (Kenilworth, NJ, Union Catholic) to extend the margin at the 76:28 mark.
With under six minutes to play, Goodwin finished off the scoring with his eighth goal of the season, from inside the box, to set the final score at 4-0. Stockton's best opportunity came late in the second half when Tim Sost (Egg Harbor Township, NJ / Egg harbor Township) hit the crossbar after Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville, NJ / Timber Creek) fed him a nice pass in the box.
Gonzalez made two saves in earning his third win and second shutout of the season for Montclair State. He also became the first MSU keeper to record an assist since Anthony Rogic had one against Framingham State in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.
Montclair State is back on the field on Monday, September 29 when it hits the road for a contest against Brooklyn College at 4:00 pm.
