Lucas Terci (Union, NJ, Union) scored twice and assisted on two other goals while
Kazari Trought (West Orange, NJ, West Orange) connected twice in a reserve role as Montclair State picked up its third straight victory with an 8-1 win over Brooklyn College on Monday afternoon.
Senior
Brian Cullen (Clementon, NJ, Highland Regional) and
Damian Bziukiewicz (East Rutherford, NJ, Becton Regional) had a goal and assist each as the Red Hawks (7-3) scored the final seven goals.
Scoreless through the first 14 minutes, the Red Hawks broke through at the 14:33 mark when Cullen connected for a pass from Terci for a 1-0 Montclair State lead. The would be short-lived as the Bulldogs answered less than five minutes later on a goal by Gabriel Isaksen knotting the contest at a goal apiece.
Freshman
Kyle Goodwin (South Brunswick, NJ, South Brunswick), the NJAC Rookie of the Week, put MSU back in front with 15:26 left in the first half as he knocked in a pass from Cullen, who made a perfect pass down the sideline giving the Red Hawks a 2-1 lead at the break.
After outshooting the host 18-7 in the first half, Montclair became very efficient in the final 45 minutes scoring six times on seven shots. Terci collected the first goal at 48:17 scoring off a failed clear. Bziukiewicz followed with an unassisted tally three minutes later before setting up Teri at the 55:57 mark for a 5-1 MSU advantage.
Trought got the next two goals 58 seconds apart with
James Buonavita (Oakland, NJ, Ramapo) and Terci each assisting on the goals, respectively. Trought then got his own assist on the final goal at 59:56 as Aaron Rose found the back of the net for his second of the year.
Goalkeepers
Michael Gonzalez (Kenilworth, NJ, Union Catholic) and
Kevin Lynch (Cinnaminson, NJ, Cinnaminson) each made one save for the Red Hawks.
Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, October 1 when it travels to Wayne, NJ to face William Paterson University in an NJAC matchup at 7:00 pm.
