KYLE GOODWIN put back a rebound in the 68
th minute which proved to be the difference as fifth-ranked Montclair State edged Rowan University 2-1 on Saturday evening.

MIKE OLLA had a goal for MSU, which extended its winning streak to seven games. Montclair upped its record to 13-1 overall while remaining unbeaten in the New Jersey Athletic Conference at 5-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Red Hawks got the first goal of the game 3:41 into the second period.
ROB CHERNEZ slipped a pass to Olla. Rowan keeper Kyle Dennis tried to cut Olla off the ball however he was able to maintain control before knocking the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
That's the way the match stood until 32:53 left when the Profs' Will Sjaastad knotted the match at 1-1 after blasting in a free kick from 25 yards out.
The teams traded chances as Montclair's
MIKE SAALFRANK stopped a head by Sjaastad with 27:13 left. Dennis then made a save against
MIKE TARANTO 25 seconds later.
Montclair got the go-ahead goal with 22:26 left.
RAFAEL TERCI ripped a shot that Dennis made a stop against however the rebound found its way onto the foot of Goodwin who banged in the carom. Rowan would get two chances to tie the match late but Saalfrank came up with saves each time preserving the victory for MSU.
Saalfrank finished with six saves while Dennis made four as Montclair outshot Rowan 12-11 with the Profs getting four of the seven corner kicks in the game.
The Red Hawks return home for another important NJAC matchup on Wednesday, October 14 as Montclair State hosts No. 20 Kean University at 7:00 pm.
